The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines is the focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts.

We are a non-profit Youth Organization and serve the Aurora, Colorado surrounding area. The Buckley Field unit meets every Tuesday evening at the Army National Guard Armory on Potomac St. in Aurora, CO. Our staff is made up entirely of volunteers. These volunteers are former, reserve and active military members and civilians.

More about the Young Marines

Many people ask what exactly is Young Marines. We are military derived. Some often compare us to Scouts and ROTC. While we have the greatest of respect for them we have no affiliation with either of these programs.

We are also not a recruiting program for the Marine Corps or any other branch of the military. We often counsel and support young people who decide to go into a branch of the military or are considering it as a career path so they are as fully informed as possible prior to making such a life-changing choice.

Our main initiative is to foster a drug and violence free lifestyle so that members are able to fulfill their own potential and the path it may take them down.

To impact America's future by providing a unique youth leadership program which nurtures and develops citizens in our communities, instilling the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

BFYM Mission

Support, promote and educate the youth in our community to a drug, alcohol and gang free alternative lifestyle. In our efforts we strive to develop young leaders through academic achievements, high adventure activities and to produce responsible citizens by performing community services and assisting the local veteran associations. With the assistance of volunteers comprised of active duty Marines, former Marines, other military services and civilians, we are able to promote a mental and moral atmosphere in which military instruction can be applied

Young Marine Obligation:

From this day forward, I sincerely promise: I will set an example for all other youth to follow and I shall never do anything that would bring disgrace or dishonor upon my God, my Country, and its Flag, my parents, myself or the Young Marines. Young Marine Creed

1. Obey my parents and all others in charge of me, whether young or old.
2. Keep myself neat at all times without other people telling me to.
3. Keep myself clean in mind by attending the church of my faith.
4. Keep my mind alert to learn in school, at home, or at play.
5. Remember having self-discipline will enable me to control my body and mind in case of an emergency.

Our Guiding Principles

1. The health, welfare and safety of Young Marines are paramount.
2. We value our volunteers and will provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
3. We will never forget that this program is for our youth.

5. We pledge to the parents to serve as positive role models to their children.
6. We get by giving. We strive to help our youth who are struggling with their place in life.
7. We are a community organization that lends itself to helping the community through, trash cleanup, security at events, Color Guard Ceremonies, and we provide objective referees for sporting events
