Staff of Buckley Field Young Marines

Every position is filled by a volunteer.

Commanding Officer

Michael T.  Sheppard

CO Sheppard has held this title at Buckley Field since 1997.  He became involved in the program when his wife, Kathy, decided to enroll their son, Ryan, and daughter, Shira, in the 1996 recruit training.   Being a Former Marine (1986-1990) he immediately became involved as a volunteer and soon took over as Commanding Officer.  This position is an elected one to serve as leader of the unit by assuming responsibility of everything the Unit does or fails to do.  Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard are also animal lovers and have a dog, Sammie and a fish.

Executive Officer

Loren Funk

XO Funk also a Fomer Marine came to be a volunteer at BFYM when his youngest son joined the Young Marines.  He has been serving as the Executive Officer since 2005.  Mr. and Mrs. Funk have two sons.  Their oldest is a active duty Soldier in the Army and their youngest is an active duty Marine.

Paymaster

John Faragoi

Mr.  Faragoi also a Fomer Marine, has worn many different hats at Buckley Field to include performing as Master of Ceremonies at graduations and awards and promotion ceremonies.  His biggest role comes in the form as Paymaster.  He is responsible for the  keeping of monetary books for the entire unit.  We are classified as a non-profit which means he accounts for every dollar spent by the unit is for the unit.

Training Officer

John Trujillo

Parent Support Officer

Shelly Trujillo

The PSO is the go to person for parents of Young Marines.  She either has the information you need or can get it for you.   Mrs. Trujillo has been serving in the position since 2008.  Her responsibilities include informing the parents on everything going on in the Unit so that their child does not miss an opportunity.  She runs fundraisers, organizes events, and lends a helping hand wherever and whenever needed.  She is also in charge of our Training Officer John Trujillo a Former Army Officer.

Adjutant

Denise Parmley

Mrs. Parmley became involved in BFYM in early 2008 when she enrolled her two sons in that year's recruit training.  After only a year in the program she decided to become more involved by taking on the very demanding job as Adjutant.  This position is an administrative position responsible for database entry and paperwork associated with all portions of Young Marines.  Since Mrs. Parmley has no military experience this position was even more challenging as she not only had to learn the ins and outs of her duties but also the military "way of things".
